SLAUGHTER FX BIOGRAPHY

Slaughter FX was initially known as 'Aussie Gore' and started in 2007. Chris always had a passion for horror movies and scary-looking products and decided to open his own retail horror store on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia. The store sold everything you can think of to do with horror, from costumes to vampire's teeth, artwork and film props from all over the world.

Chris procured props from some of the world’s best FX artists, including Robert Kurtzman from the USA and Kyle Gore from Australia. Chris met creature creator superstar Steve Boyle and also sold Steve's props in the store as well. Chris and Steve went on to make five films together with Steve creating all the practical FX for the projects, the latest being the demonic possession film "The Possessed".

Aussie Gore would also specialise in collector horror toys and even had a small horror museum walk through like a mini haunted house.  Folks would come from all over to experience Chris's house of gore with exorcist rooms to full-blown blood and guts rooms all set in the pitch black and only one small torch per group. The mini haunted house was a true hit with the horror fans but not the local community or council and was quickly shut down from too many complaints.

Chris taught himself how to create practical FX and props, ranging from severed fingers to full-size corpses, tables, lamps and so much more for small films and Halloween parties and just your good old fashioned horror collectors. Although only of amateur level when it comes to creating horror props Chris has managed to sell his one-off creations all over the world and still today people reach out asking him to create crazy props for them. Chris would receive at least one email per week asking for a "Friday the 13th Coffee Table" but because of his film commitments, he cannot produce any more of these at this time.

In fact, his most famous creations are the Friday The 13th Coffee tables, these tables are so popular with the horror community worldwide, it is believed his original table has been viewed over 50 million times on social media platforms and still gets shares to this day.

Even with his props getting such worldwide fame it wasn't enough to keep the retail store and overheads going, so in late 2009 Chris changed Aussie Gore to Slaughter FX and embarked on a new mission. Although everyone thought he was made Chris decided to write a horror movie script and make his own feature-length film and with the help of people from the film community in 2010 "Come and Get Me" was born. CAGM received a USA distributor and was self-distributed by Slaughter FX back in Australia.

In 2012 Slaughter FX's next project would be inspired by multiple true stories called "Daddy's Little Girl" and still today is Chris's Favourite film he has created. DLG won many film awards at festivals all over the world and secured distribution in many countries including the USA, Europe, Japan, Australia and UK to name a few.

In 2014 Slaughter FX produced the Aussie Slasher film "Charlie’s Farm” which was Chris’s first go at one of his favourite genres, the Slasher Genre. Set in the country the film boasts some amazing practical FX and kills and was his first time working with international talent. Tara Reid, Bill Moseley, and Kane Horror were quick to jump on board this Aussie film alongside Australian big man and superstar Nathan Jones playing Charlie. Charlies Farm also played in many festivals around the globe and was distributed all over the world as well.

In 2015 Slaughter FX also released Chris’s first novel called “ED”. Ed is being distributed worldwide by Source Point Press out of the USA but self-distributed Downunder by Slaughter FX.

In 2017 Slaughter FX teamed up with Ozpix Entertainment and together they created the creature feature “BOAR”. Chris’s love for the Monster film genre (Creature Features) shone through and Universal Pictures Australia was quick to land the local distribution rights for the film. BOAR not only played in festivals all over the globe and received distribution in nearly every country on the planet it became the 5th best-selling film in Australia for 2018, sold over 30,000 DVD’s alone down under in 2019, was so good on SHUDDER that they gave it a full-blown DVD release in the USA. This was the first film for Slaughter FX and Chris to be seen on the famous yellow taxi cabs in New York City, not a bad accomplishment for a self-taught filmmaker from a small town in Australia.

In 2020 COVID 19 nearly destroyed the entertainment industry, but Chris met up with Executive Producer Mark Gardener from Nexus Files Studios and together they created his latest film “The Possessed”. Slaughter FX alongside Ozpix Entertainment, Giddy Up Films and Nexus Files Studios pushed through the pandemic to create the film which has (in July 2021) completed postproduction and is getting set to be sold to distributors around the world. The Possessed is set for an Australian release later in 2021.

Slaughter FX is now working away on the next production which will see Chris Direct a Creature Feature set back in the 1980s. Chris is going back to what he loves, 100% practical FX, lots of blood and guts and the most important thing…..

Really big fucking monsters killing everyone.
