Chris Sun

Born in Queensland, Australia, in 1975, Chris was named after legendary horror icon Christopher Lee, the actor immortalised for his portrayal of Dracula.

Perhaps it was fate, but from an early age, horror would become an undeniable part of Chris's life. Little did he know that decades later, he would be carving out his own place in the international horror industry.

Although his passion for horror began in childhood, it wasn't until his thirties that Chris took the leap into filmmaking, determined to bring his own terrifying stories to the screen.

In 2010, Chris made his feature film debut as writer, producer and director with Come and Get Me, an independent horror thriller that secured distribution through Camp Motion Pictures in the United States. The film marked the beginning of what would become an exciting and increasingly successful career in genre filmmaking.

Daddy's Little Girl (2012)

It was his second feature that truly announced Chris Sun as a filmmaker to watch.

The confronting revenge thriller sent shockwaves through Australia's independent film industry and quickly attracted international attention. With distribution secured through Eagle Entertainment in Australia, Breaking Glass Pictures in the United States, Alamode Film Distribution in Germany and other international territories, Daddy's Little Girl introduced audiences worldwide to Chris's uncompromising approach to storytelling, raw emotion and brutal practical effects.

The film would go on to develop a dedicated cult following, cementing its reputation as one of Australia's most confronting independent revenge horror films.

Charlie's Farm (2014)

Chris followed this success with his third feature, a brutal Australian slasher that further established his reputation on the international horror scene.

With Shoreline Entertainment handling worldwide sales, Charlie's Farm secured distribution across numerous international territories and screened at more than 25 film festivals around the world. The film attracted significant attention from horror fans and industry professionals alike, showcasing Chris's ability to deliver larger-than-life characters, relentless horror and spectacular practical effects.

ED The Novel

Following the success of Charlie's Farm, Chris expanded his creative talents beyond the screen, writing his debut horror novel, ED.

Published by US-based Source Point Press, ED proved that Chris's imagination was just as powerful on the page as it was on screen. The novel went on to sell more than 3,000 physical copies in Australia alone, further demonstrating his ability to connect with horror audiences across different mediums.

Boar (2018)

In 2018, Chris unleashed his fourth feature film, an ambitious creature feature centred around a monstrous wild pig the size of a minivan, terrorising the Australian outback and destroying everything in its path.

Building on the international success of Charlie's Farm, Boar attracted major industry attention, with Universal Pictures securing Australian distribution rights and AMC/Shudder acquiring the film for the United States.

The American release saw Boar promoted through an extensive marketing campaign, including billboards and taxis throughout New York City and other US locations.

The film went on to become Australia's fifth best-selling horror film of 2018, securing distribution deals around the world and further strengthening Chris's reputation as one of Australia's most recognisable independent horror filmmakers.

The Possessed (2021)

In 2021, Chris teamed up with Nexus Files to complete his fifth feature film, a supernatural horror inspired by actual events.

Moving into the terrifying world of demonic possession, the film demonstrated Chris's versatility as a storyteller while retaining the intense atmosphere, frightening imagery and practical effects that audiences had come to expect from his work.

From brutal revenge thrillers and relentless slashers to giant killer creatures and supernatural terror, Chris has never been afraid to explore different corners of the horror genre.

Mummy's Little Girl (Filming November 2026)

Now, more than 14 years after the release of Daddy's Little Girl, Chris is preparing to return to the world that helped define his filmmaking career.

His next feature, Mummy's Little Girl, is a new chapter in the world of his 2012 cult revenge thriller. Featuring an exciting Australian cast, including Simone Buchanan and John Jarratt, the film promises to take audiences on another emotionally charged journey into the darkest depths of revenge.

With renowned practical effects artist Steve Boyle and Formation Effects returning to the production, Chris is determined to push the boundaries even further, delivering something bigger, bloodier and more extreme than anything he has created before.
